Job Description

Tehachapi Cement, LLC is seeking a qualified Quarry Supervisor to oversee mining operations at our Tehachapi plant. The ideal candidate will ensure efficient, cost-effective, and safe quarry production while maintaining high standards of quality and adhering to environmental and government regulations. This role involves collaborating with maintenance and equipment teams, managing health and safety protocols, and implementing company policies and collective bargaining agreements to achieve continuous improvement and organizational goals.

Responsibilities:

  • Safety Compliance: Ensure compliance with Company safety policies and MSHA/OSHA regulations. Conduct crew safety meetings and required inspections to maintain a safe working environment.
  • Crushing Operations Oversight: Supervise all quarry crushing operations, including production, maintenance, and quality control in a cost-effective and efficient manner.
  • Material Supply Management: Sustain an optimal supply of limestone and limestone rejects to the Tehachapi cement plant. Ensure used kiln refractory is returned to the quarry for recycling and processing.
  • Environmental Compliance: Ensure adherence to environmental standards and government regulations. Elevate exposure and non-compliance issues to Corporate Compliance Management and/or Corporate Legal as needed.
  • Outage Supervision: Supervise major outage repairs to ensure they are completed safely and effectively.
  • Labor Relations: Administer the Collective Bargaining Agreement, including participation in disciplinary and grievance procedures.
  • Regulatory & Policy Compliance: Ensure compliance requirements are met through proper organizational and procedural measures such as implementing group guidelines, conducting training, and monitoring adherence.
  • Equipment Coordination: Work with Maintenance teams to ensure the reliability and performance of limestone crushing equipment.
  • Strategic Planning Support: Assist in the development of goals and objectives for the quarry operations.
  • Workforce Management: Manage employee work schedules, approve time cards and PTO, and assign daily tasks to ensure timely and accurate completion.
  • Other Duties: Perform additional tasks as assigned in support of quarry operations and organizational goals.


Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Education: High school diploma or GED required; Bachelor’s degree in Geology or Mining Engineering preferred.
  • Experience: 3-5 years of experience in mining operations, including managing and supervising staff.
  • Skills: Ability to read, analyze, and interpret data. Strong leadership and communication skills are essential.
  • Technical Proficiency: Experience with SAP and Propeller (drone) technology is preferred.
