Job Description

An American electric vehicle manufacturing company is actively looking for a self-motivated Vehicle Test Engineer to join their dynamic team. This is a 5-month CT role with potential for extension or conversion. It is 100% onsite at their Irvine, CA location Monday-Friday 8am-5pm or 9am-6pm.

As a Vehicle Test Engineer, you will be critical in assessing the effectiveness of the testing process, identify areas for improvement and implement changes to enhance the quality and efficiency of the testing activities.

Required Skills & Experience

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Engineering Materials Science, or related field.
  • 2-3 years of experience in automotive durability, chassis design, body sealing, or vehicle testing.
  • Hands-on experience with stone impact, durability, water or dynamics testing, fluid dynamics simulations.
  • Strong understanding of underbody and vehicle exterior systems, sealing architectures, structures design.
  • Familiarity with test standards (e.g., SAE J400, ISO 20653, ASTM D3170, OEM-specific test plans).
  • Experience interpreting test results, identifying failure modes, and recommending design changes.
  • Excellent communication skills to collaborate across engineering, design, and quality teams.

What You Will Be Doing

Daily Responsibilities:

  • Benchmark competitor vehicles for environmental durability performance
  • Develop, own and lead test plans for stone impact and chipping resistance of painted and coated vehicle surfaces at test labs and proving grounds
  • Ensure delivery of watertight vehicle bodies through cross functional collaboration with water management, launch quality and design teams
