This position has primary responsibility for providing direct care to meet the physical and psychosocial needs of the clients through direct and indirect physical and verbal interaction. Duties are performed under direct supervision of the Program Coordinator, or designee, in most cases, but some tasks are accomplished independently. The role is within the Crisis Residential Program, a 24/7 voluntary residential setting specifically for Transitional Age Youth (TAY) at risk and needing a higher level of care, but lower than a psychiatric hospital. The facility serves up to 15 youth and provides mental health services including individual therapy, group rehabilitation, medication management, and case management. The program incorporates the tenets of recovery, peer support, and identifying community connections, connecting individuals to educational and vocational services and initiating the process of locating housing. Qualifications include a high school diploma or equivalent plus one year of full-time experience in consumer directed services in mental health or related fields, or higher education with corresponding experience, certification as a Mental Health Rehabilitation Specialist (can be obtained post-hire), and a valid California Driver's License and automobile insurance.
