Summary:
The Advanced Gardener is an outdoor hands-on position responsible for care of a variety of home and commercial landscapes. This person should be a model for proper gardening methods, be conscious of safety requirements, work effectively as a team member, dress appropriately, be punctual, and follow all instructions given by the Garden Crew Leader and Horticultural Services Manager. The Advanced Gardener will deadhead perennials/annuals, weed beds, prune shrubs & small trees, mulch & edge beds, plant perennials/annuals/trees/shrubs, properly apply fertilizers and pesticides, make irrigation adjustments, light mowing, and other landscape tasks as required.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
Use small machinery safely and properly: garden tiller, blower, lawn mower, hedge trimmer, weed whacker, etc.
Carry out verbal and written instructions given by the Gardening Crew Leader.
Strong attention to detail and ability to complete assigned tasks efficiently, thoroughly, and per company production rates.
Use basic tools safely and properly: shovel, grading rake, spade, grub hoe, wheelbarrow, etc. Work in a safe manner and report any/all unsafe conditions to the supervisor.
Communicates professionally with crew lead and other crew members.
Thoroughly understands and complies with company policy and safety manuals.
Reports to work in a clean, appropriate uniform and wearing the appropriate boots.
Able to work cooperatively and efficiently in a team and alone.
Additional tasks may be assigned, as needed to support organizational needs.
Preferred Education, Work Experience & Skills:
A minimum 1 year Gardening/ Landscape experience needed, must be hardworking and enjoy being outdoors all day
Willingness to learn, and take on additional responsibilities to support the organization.
Valid/current Driver’s License, reliable transportation, be insurable on company’s insurance policy.
Physical Requirements:
Physically able to handle the workload of a Gardener.
Able to lift 50 pounds without assistance.
Have full range of mobility in upper and lower body.
Must be able to talk, listen and speak clearly in person, and by phone, as needed.
Ability to safely and successfully perform the essential job functions consistent with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards, including meeting standards specified in job description and through performance management.
Ability to maintain regular, punctual attendance consistent with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards.
Must be able to be physically present at work during operating hours.
Work Environment:
Outdoor working conditions in typical Colorado climate including conditions such as extreme heat & cold and inclement weather; team transportation in a crew vehicle throughout the day to landscape maintenance job sites located at but not limited to, busy streets, residential and commercial locations.
Compensation:
Pay is based on relevant skills and experience
DOE:
Entry Level Gardener $18.00 - $20.00
Expericenced/Advanced Gardener $21.00 - $23.00 per hour
