Atzinger Gardens is seeking entry-level Gardeners and Landscape Crew Members to join our growing team. This is an opportunity to work in some of the most beautiful private gardens in the Ann Arbor area while learning hands-on horticulture, garden maintenance, and landscape installation techniques. No prior experience is needed — just a passion for plants, outdoor spaces, and craftsmanship.
Assist with weeding, pruning, mulching, planting, and transplanting in residential gardens.
Participate in garden installation projects, including demolition, soil preparation, and hardscape construction (stone pathways, patios, dry-stacked walls).
Care for and organize tools, equipment, and supplies during job assignments and at the shop.
Communicate with clients and Crew Leaders to ensure project needs are met.
Recognize and proactively address maintenance needs in client gardens.
Work collaboratively with the crew to maintain a positive and respectful work environment.
Track hours worked, report schedule changes in advance, and arrive punctually.
Perform physically demanding labor, including lifting up to 50 pounds and working on hands and knees outdoors.
Strong interest in gardening, plants, and outdoor landscape design.
Willingness to learn plant identification, soil management, and installation techniques.
Ability to differentiate basic plant and weed characteristics (training provided).
Reliable personal transportation (mileage reimbursement available).
Ability to lift 50+ lbs and work outdoors in various weather conditions.
High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
Willingness to undergo a background check and drug test prior to employment.
No prior horticulture or landscaping experience required — willing to train.
Clean driving record preferred.
Ability to work at least 3–4 full days per week, seasonally from March through December.
Hourly Range: $16.00–$19.50 per hour, based on experience and skills.
