Job Description

Position Overview:

The primary responsibility of the HVAC Shop Engineer is to operate and maintain property machinery, HVAC and mechanical equipment property-wide.

All duties are to be performed in accordance with departmental and The Venetian Resort’s policies, practices, and procedures.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Operates and maintains domestic water system.
  • Operates and maintains The Venetian Resort chilled water supply system.
  • Operates and maintains complete heating ventilation.
  • Designs and installs HVAC systems for new projects.
  • Maintains and repairs the canal filtration system.
  • Operates, maintains and repairs waste water treatment plant.
  • Performs preventative maintenance of all mechanical equipment related to water features.
  • Troubleshoots complex maintenance problems, and develops creative solutions. Performs maintenance duties as necessary.
  • Interfaces with contractors. Creates written specifications and secures bids for services in accordance with established bid process. Reviews plans.

Additional Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Interfaces with vendors. Researches and evaluates new housekeeping and maintenance products and procedures. Orders supplies as needed.
  • Establishes schedules for repairs and preventative maintenance and ensures they are adhered to.
  • Maintain, repair, modify and enhance a product or service or facilities.
  • Evaluate information to repair, maintain, or modify a product or service or facility; and refine or improve or modify systems, products or services or facilities of a department or function.
  • Safety is an essential function of this job.
  • Consistent and regular attendance is an essential function of this job.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • 21 years of age.
  • Proof of authorization/eligibility to work in the United States.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • 4 years working on the job in electrical, plumbing, air conditioning and heating appliances required.
  • Must possess personal computer and data entry skills.
  • Knowledge in HVAC, plumbing, using hand tools, electrical, refrigerator, air conditioning and heating, and appliances.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively in English, both in spoken and written form.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively with guests and other Team Members of different backgrounds and levels of experience.
  • Must be able to work varied shifts, including nights, weekends and holidays.

Physical Requirements:

Must be able to:

  • Lift or carry 50 pounds, unassisted, in the performance of specific tasks, as assigned.
  • Physically access all areas of the property and drive areas with or without a reasonable accommodation.
  • Maintain composure under pressure and consistently meet deadlines with internal and external customers and contacts.
  • Ability to interact appropriately and effectively with guests, management, other team members, and outside contacts.
  • Ability for prolonged periods of time to walk, stand, stretch, bend and kneel.
  • Work in a fast-paced and busy environment.
  • Work indoors and be exposed to various environmental factors such as, but not limited to, CRT, noise, dust, and cigarette smoke.
